In the beginning
We were one
Tiny indivisible point.
All that mattered
Seen and unseen
Heavy as a grieving heart.
What power exploded
Our union, sent all
Racing outward,
Beseeching arms of fiery gas
Clouds reaching back for
Long goodbyes.
We gaze toward
Far-flung kin,
Their indifference
But un-difference once removed.
Our lives not ellipses
Like our orbit, but
similarly
brilliant.
